Sanchari Bakshi
• Sanchari Bakshi, born in a Bengali family, started learning SITAR from her father SHRI ANUPAM BAKSHI from a very early age. Her parents were her inspiration in her early years.
• Since 1990, Sanchari has been a direct disciple of PADMA BHUSHAN PANDIT DEBU CHAUDHURI. |
• From her seventh year, she started performing in school functions. From 1987 to 1995 she won a remarkable 18 GOLD MEDALS in State and National level competitions organized by NEHRU BAL SAMITI.
• In 1991, as a child artiste she visited RUSSIA.
• In 1993 she was honored with the KALABHUSHAN AWARD, the highest appreciation for a child talent.
• Sanchari represented the I.C.C.W., Government of India contingent at the SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S ART AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL 1994.
• In July 1995, Sanchari joined Miranda House, Delhi University for B.A. Hons. in Music.(Instrumental-Sitar).

| In February 1996, Sanchari performed at YUVA MAHOTSAV organized by SAHITYA KALA PARISHAD, N.C.T. DELHI.
• She stood first in the ALL INDIA MUSIC COMPETITION of the MAHARSHI GANDHARVA VEDVISHWA VIDYAPEETH in 1997.
• In October 1997, Sanchari performed at the inaugural function of NATIONAL CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL organized by the H.R.D. Ministry with the cooperation of NEHRU BAL SAMITI at Vigyan Bhawan.
• In December 1997, she performed in YATRA Festival organized by the SAHITYA KALA PARISHAD.

• In 1997, she also topped in Delhi University in her Graduate Degree in Instrumental Music.

• In July 1999, by the invitation of HABITAT WORLD, she presented a solo recital at the INDIA HABITAT CENTRE.
• Sanchari is a recipient of the C.C.R.T., H.R.D. and SAHITYA KALA PARISHAD scholarships. She has also performed in the SOPAN MUSIC FESTIVAL organized by the SAHITYA KALA PARISHAD.
• In December 1999, she participated in ALL INDIA CLASSICAL MUSIC COMPETITION organized by SHRI BABA HARBALLABH SANGEET MAHASABHA in Jallandhar and stood first.
• In December 2000, Sanchari performed at the main Music Conference at the BABA HARBALLABH SANGEET MAHASABHA at Jallandhar.
• In February 2001, SPIC MACAY presented Sanchari in their first overnight concert at Ramjas College along with living legends of Indian classical music.
• SANCHARI was interviewed by TARA Media for international viewing, and ETV recorded a half-an-hour concert cum interview.
• SANCHARI is a graded artiste of ALL INDIA RADIO. |

• In 2000, she topped the Masters Degree in Instrumental Music and received the USTAD MUSHTAQ ALI KHAN GOLD MEDAL from Delhi University.

• On the occasion of the 55th Foundation Day of the U.N.O., Sanchari was one of the 26 outstanding personalities honoured by the NEHRU BAL SAMITI with the Millennium Trophy.
• In December 2000, Sanchari performed at the main music conference at the BABA HARBALLABH SANGEET MAHASABHA at Jallandhar.
• In November 2001, Sanchari performed at the PRATIBHA UTSAV organized by the NORTH CENTRAL ZONE CULTURAL CENTER, Allahabad.
• SANCHARI performed at the SANGEET SANKALP, Bhilai in December 2001 and in the prestigious SANGEET SANKALP SAPTAH Ahmedabad in 2002, apart from her several performances in Delhi.
• In 2002, she topped her M.Phil (Instrumental Music) in Delhi University.

• From 3rd June to 14th June 2005, the ICCR sent Sanchari for a tour to Istanbul, Turkey.
• In July 2005, she was invited by the INDIA INTERNATIONAL CENTER to perform for an entire evening.
• In November 2005, Sanchari performed at the HEMANT UTSAV in Jallandhar organized by SHRI BABA HARBALLABH SANGEET MAHASABHA.
• In February 2006, SANCHARI was awarded the degree of “DOCTORATE OF PHILOSOPHY” in Music by the University of Delhi.
• On 31st December 2006, Sanchari performed in the SANGEET NATAK AKADEMI’S “SANGEET PRATIBHA” Festival held in Patiala.
• On 4th May 2007, Sanchari, performed for the NZCC (Ministry of HRD) in Patiala.
• From 7th-17th June 2007, Sanchari visited CHINA as a member of the 1st INDO-CHINA YOUTH DELEGATION sent by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on the invitation of the President of the PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA.
• On 31st January 2008, Sanchari was honored by the RAMJAS FOUNDATION with their prestigious ALUMNI AWARD.

• Her performance at the musical evening presented by the Ministry of Culture to the delegates of the INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES at the Ashoka Hotel in November 2002 was highly praised.
• In April 2003, her interview and performance was shown on SUBAH-SAVERE at the National Network of DOORDARSHAN. In May 2003 SANCHARI gave a live interview-cum-performance on DOOR DARSHAN NATIONAL TELEVISION, WEDNESDAY EVENING LIVE SHOW.
• The same year Sanchari performed at ARPAN music festival organized by the renowned danseuse VIDUSHI SHOVANA NARAYAN.
• In January 2004, she once again performed at SUBAH SAVERE on DOOR DARSHAN NATIONAL TELEVISION.
• In October 2004, DOOR DARSHAN NATIONAL TELEVISION recorded her concert which has been telecasted innumerable times.
• In January 2004, she won the ‘SURMANI’ award from SURSINGAR SAMSAD (KAL KE KALAKAR), Bombay.
• Sanchari is also a musician empanelled with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.

• On the 4th March 2007, Sanchari had the unique experience of performing live for one of the leading young painters of India, SANATAN DINDA, inspired by his showcased paintings.
• On 11th January 2009, Sanchari performed in Mumbai at a music festival organized by SWAR SADHANA in collaboration with SANGEET SANKALP.
• In the past few years, as a Guest faculty member in the Delhi University, Sanchari gained experience of teaching SITAR, and this has helped her further understand the finer points of music teaching.
• On 6th May 2009, the SADHANA media channel recorded an entire episode on Sanchari as a popular young SITAR player for a television series on INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC, to be aired on some of the leading Indian television channels.

• In May 2009, Sanchari performed in Moscow for The Year of India in Russia, 2009, the mega cultural festival orgnised by ICCR in that country. Thereafter, she had a concert tour in Uzbekistan and in Tajikistan.
• On 4th December, she performed at the National Programme of Sankalp Pune.
• She gave a lecture-demonstration at the Flame University of Performing University in Pune.
• She performed at the Swami Haridas Sammelan in Mumbai on 13th December 2009.
• She performed at the Balasaheb Poonchwale Smriti Sangeet Samaroha in Gwalior.
