Mahua Shankar belongs to the
new generation of
highly talented Kathak performers and teachers.
A disciple of
the legendary figure of Indian classical dance, Padma
Vibhushan Birju Maharaj,
Mahua started
learning dance at the age of five.
Her father, the late Shri Pradeep Shankar,
and her mother, Smt. Rekha Shankar,
were her first gurus. Several of her dance
performances have been
choreographed
by her father.
Mahua's mastery
over rhythm and movement has
never failed to enthrall an audience,
whether
in India or abroad.
